Good luck on Sunday to all Hammer readers who are doing the Noosa Triathlon on Sunday (or any of the events up there).
Brendon, the guy who helps us with this site, is doing the race with “Team Sinclair” – his 16 yo daughter Laura and 15 yo son Jack. They’re aiming for a touch under 3 hours, so good luck!
Here’s Jack (on the left) finishing off the 10 km run leg last year. He’s doing the bike leg this year and is aiming to smash his old dad’s time from last year (a leisurely 1:24:58 – did you stop off for a coffee Brendon?!).
Jack – Check Your Tyres Mate!
Brendon has assured me this won’t happen because he’ll be letting the tyres down on the bike!
It’s fantastic that a family team can do Noosa and it’s what a race like Noosa is wonderful for.
A great way to get kids involved in a huge triathlon and make them feel part of the sport.
The Noosa Tri guys have done a great job at building the race and encouraging the sport – well done guys.
Good luck, don’t speed too fast down the big hill, keep well fueled and make sure you keep well hydrated.
Cheers

One of our favourite Hammer sponsored athletes – I know we shouldn’t have favourites, but she’s just so nice! – Michelle Wu has done it again.
Yep, Michelle has taken out the 1st leg of the Australian Triathlon Series in Nowra in a time of 2:07:14.
A great time for the Olympic distance Tri.
Smashed Through 40 Min for 10 KM Barrier!
Michelle sang the praises of her new Orca Apex 2 wetsuit, which you’d need on a cold Nowra morning.
She felt great on the bike leg and came into the last transition in 2nd place.
Michelle absolutely smashed her previous best in the 10km run leg with a sizzling hot 36 mins 39 seconds to take a pretty easy win in the end (she would never say that, of course!).
Michelle has never run a sub-40 minutes for 10 km before in a Olympic distance tri, so to absolutely smash through that barrier was a big thrill for her.
Here’s what Michelle wrote to me:
“I’m over the moon to have finally cracked it – in a big way!)
1st overall female, 7th overall (including the boys!), total time 2:07:14 hrs – a PB for an Olympic distance event! (and a 7min PB from last years race!).”
4 Tridents In Top 10
As usual Michelle, in her race report to me, mentions her team mates:
“Well done to all fellow Tridents who braved the tough course. I hope you all achieved your pre-race goals! 4 Tridents in the top 10! a great result for the club!”
“I Did It My Way”……Or Maybe Not!
The photo to the left is Michelle at the presentation about to launch in her very own version of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way“.
Or maybe not!
Well done Michelle. I’m not saying the Hammer Gels got you under the 40 minute mark but…….. ;o)
Cheers

Chris is a sponsored Hammer Nutrition athlete who is currently in the Boulder, Colorado training for the Hawaiian Ironman.
He’s a popular Australian athlete so I thought I’d share his latest update to me.
6th At Yepoon
All was going great for Chris including a 6th at the Rydges Yepoon Half Ironman in August as his first race for a while, followed by an 8th in the Cologne Classic Long Course Championships in Germany on September 2.
Then it was back to Boulder for more training, a long and windy mountain road and a crash.
Hello David
Had a bit of a crash today on the bike.
Myself, Macca (Chris McCormack), and Cam Widoff did this 2hr climb to a spectacular mountain top, that was about 11,500 feet above sea level.
The temp at the base of the mountains was 35 degrees and at the top it would have only been 15 degrees.
Anyway we were descending down the climb at about 60km/hr and it was a pretty windy road. The last thing that I remember is going past Macca down a hill and him saying “Take it easy Stanto”, my reply being “it’s all good.”
30 secs later I reached this sharp right hand turn… I had now run out of road and was on the other side of the road.”
Chris Jumped Before The Edge!
Chris put the bike down before he went over the edge and has hurt his AC (shoulder) joint.
Chris is still off to Hawaii to support his mates and says he’s keep working on the injury up to race day and make a decision then.
Good luck Chris.
Cheers,
David
